Say goodbye to
wasted harvests

Reusable cooling crates that keep fresh food at the right temperature for up to a day, with no power, fuel or ice where you use them. For markets, farms and deliveries.

The Seryn crate: a blue insulated crate the size of a standard produce crate, with a keypad lock on the lid

Why it matters

Lost food is a climate problem.

When food spoils before anyone eats it, the land, water and fuel used to grow and transport it are wasted too. Most of this loss happens where there is no cold chain.

8–10%

of global greenhouse gas emissions come from food that is lost or wasted.

UNEP, 2024
13%

of the world's food is lost between harvest and the shop.

FAO, 2023
12%

of food production is lost because there is no refrigeration.

IIR, 2021

Save food.
Cut emissions.

Seryn brings cooling to the places the grid doesn't reach: the stall, the field and the back of the truck. Keep fresh food sellable for longer, without a generator, a cold room or a bag of ice.

Versions

The right cold for every crop

Tomatoes are damaged by cold that keeps spinach fresh. So every Seryn crate takes one of three kinds of cold panel. Pick the one that matches what you keep, and swap it when your stock changes.

Seryn Cool

12 °C

0 °CHolds 10–13 °C15 °C

Best for

  • Tomatoes
  • Avocados
  • Mangoes
  • Bananas
  • Pawpaw
  • Cucumbers

Panels charge in a normal fridge. Longest hold time.

Seryn Chill

7 °C

0 °CHolds 5–8 °C15 °C

Best for

  • Peppers
  • Green beans
  • Oranges
  • Ripe avocados
  • Passion fruit
  • Okra

Panels charge in a freezer. Load produce already cool.

Seryn Cold

2 °C

0 °CHolds 0–4 °C15 °C

Best for

  • Leafy greens
  • Herbs
  • Cabbage
  • Carrots
  • Berries
  • Cut flowers

Panels charge in a freezer. Load produce already cool; add a panel for long trips.

No power needed

No plug, no generator and no solar panel where you use it.

Right cold for each crop

Choose 2, 7 or 12 °C panels, so nothing is damaged by the wrong cold.

Reusable for years

Cold panels recharge every day. No ice and no throwaway foam boxes.

Locked and logged

Opens with a code, and records its temperature every 10 minutes.

How it works

Charge, load, go with nothing to plug in

Everything runs from a phone. Any phone works, not just smartphones.

  • Charge

The cold panels recharge in a fridge or freezer at a hub.

  • Load and lock

Slide the panels in, load your produce, close the lid and type your code.

  • Store or move

Keep it on the stall overnight or take it on the road. It stays cool without power.

Climate

Cooling without the carbon

The world needs more cooling as it gets hotter. Seryn provides it without adding fuel, refrigerant or waste where the food is.

  • No diesel

No generator where you use it. The panels can be charged from solar.

  • No refrigerant in the crate

The crate cools with a phase-change material, not a compressor, so there is no refrigerant gas in it to leak.

  • No single-use packaging

Replaces ice and throwaway foam boxes with a crate built to last for years.

  • Less food in the dump

Food that rots in a dump gives off methane. Food that stays fresh gets sold and eaten.

Built for global goals

SDG 12.3
Halve food loss and waste

Cut food losses along supply chains by 2030.

SDG 13
Climate action

Fewer emissions from lost food and from cooling.

SDG 2
Zero hunger

More of the food that's grown reaches people.

COP28
Global Cooling Pledge

Cut cooling-related emissions while bringing cooling to more people.

Kigali
Kigali Amendment

Phase down climate-warming HFC refrigerants.

Uses

Wherever fresh food goes

Markets and traders

Keep ripe stock fresh overnight instead of selling it cheap at closing time or throwing it away.

Farms and co-ops

Pack at harvest and hold produce cool in the field until the truck arrives, with no cold room on site.

Deliveries and logistics

Move fresh food in any vehicle. Every crate logs its temperature, so you can show the cold chain held.

Shops and restaurants

Store greens and fruit without running a fridge all day, and keep them safe through power cuts.

Food programmes

Get fresh food to schools, clinics and relief sites that have no power, and cut what's lost on the way.

FAQ

Common questions

What can I keep in it?

Fruit, vegetables, leafy greens, herbs and flowers. Use Seryn Cool (12 °C) for tomatoes, avocados, mangoes and bananas, Seryn Chill (7 °C) for peppers, beans and citrus, and Seryn Cold (2 °C) for greens, herbs and flowers. Milk, meat and fish need strict food-safety rules, and we are testing Seryn Cold for them.

Can I switch between versions?

Yes. It's the same crate. Only the cold panels change, so you can swap them when what you sell changes with the season.

Does it need electricity?

Not where you use it. The cold comes from panels that are recharged in a fridge or freezer at a hub and swapped into the crate.

How long does it stay cool?

Our target for Seryn Cool is 12 hours with a full load: overnight on a stall, or a long day on the road. The colder versions hold for less time on the same panels, so add a panel for long trips.

How do I pay?

Rent a crate by the day with mobile money, or buy or lease crates for your business. Pay-per-day crates open with a code sent by SMS.

How does it cut emissions?

Food that rots has already used the land, water, fuel and fertiliser it took to grow and move it, and it gives off methane when it is dumped. Seryn keeps more of that food, and it cools without a diesel generator, without ice and without refrigerant in the crate.

Where is it available?

We are bringing Seryn to markets, farms and businesses across Africa. Tell us where you are below and we'll let you know when it reaches you.
